Aprilia EPROM History
This is an incomplete history of the various EPROMs that Aprilia shipped with their Gen1 ECU (Mille, Tuono, and Falco).
The first set of EPROMs share a common codebase. This same basic codebase was shipped with all the small-valve engines.
EPROM ID | Model/Year | Derestrictable | Trim Pots Work | EPROM Checksum | Notes |
Sport854 | RSV/1999 | No | Yes | 92D9 | - The very first RSV EPROM.
- This EPROM was for the original 'small' 36mm intake valve cylinder heads.
- Only contains a derestricted map.
|
A63 | RSV / to 2000 | Yes | No | 7868 | - Based on a modified Sport854 EPROM:
- Added a restricted map
- Derestricted map was made a bit leaner
- Trim pots were deactivated
|
P08 | Falco/00-02 | Yes | No | 5F76 | - For small intake valve engines (36mm)
|
Starting
in 2001, the RSV engine got larger 38mm intake valves, up 2mm from the
original 36mm intake valves. At the same time, the ECU firmware got
changed to a slightly different version. All RSV ECU EPROMs from this
point on use the new codebase.
EPROM ID | Model/Year | Derestrictable | Trim Pots Work | EPROM Checksum | Notes |
RP58 | RSV/01-03 | Yes | Yes | AF2A | - Europe still got the RP58 in derestrictable form in 2001-2003.
- USA got the RP58 for 2001 only.
|
RP58USA | RSV/2002 | No | No | | USA only: - Same codebase as RP58.
- The derestricted data maps are identical to restricted maps, so cutting the derestriction wire does nothing.
|
549USA | RSV/03 Tuono/03-05 | No | No | | USA only: - Mufflers have catalytic converters.
- Same codebase as RP58, but different data maps.
- The derestricted data maps are identical to the restricted maps, so cutting the derestriction wire does nothing.
|
549EuroC | Tuono/03 | Yes | Yes | 86DE | Europe only: - Tuono without catalytic converter (shiny muffler)
|
549EuroKatD | Tuono/04-05 | Yes | Yes | 90EA | Europe only:- Tuono with catalytic converter (black muffler)
